Summary Notes
- About to start online learning, what was the biggest hurdle or feeling you had?
- Classes mostly over Zoom
- The first thing she realised she wasn't gong to be in a classroom environment which took a while for her to adjust to because was weird to not be able to walk into a classroom and see your teacher and your classmates. Walking into English instead youre in your room or your living room and
- Felt disconnected
- What class was most destroyed over online learning?
- Maths. Shes a visual learner and not being able to see her maths teacher doing equations on a white board and being able to physcially talk it through and not going through it being dofficult
- Food tech how did it go?
- Cook every two weeks for those usually
- Online the teachers suggested what to cook at home so they gave them a recipe and they didnt check.
- How did recess and lunch work?
- Same times.
- Disconnected. Would go to kitchen instead
- Talked to friends over snapchat or made their own Zoom instead
- Felt less connected from friends
- Not being able to go to the canteen lol
- Did the teachers take any creative solutions to teach you better online?
- It was really new for teachers and students and no one knew how to deal with it
- Teachers did their best but could have been handled better if they were more literate with tech. couldnt even make zooms
- A lot werent trained for it
- Never had breakout rooms
- Did teachers hand out teaching resources different to people who learned different;y (visually)?
- No they treated everyone equally
- What was the structure of an online class?
- Theyd get on the Zoom and did a roll call
- Summarise of what they'd teach
- e.g. for bio teach the best she could and then give homework
- She would give a worksheet to do homework as a revision usually
- They treated the class like a lecture and they gave you to work to sumamrise
- EDROLO (was her best friend) was pre-recorded videos full lessons on maths topics
- Was much more interactive at school and go our in groups — could have been solved with breakout rooms
- How did your sleep schedule change?
- Didnt have to go to school and get ready. Now she could wake up 10 minutes before
- What was your energy like compared to online and inperso
- Lost motivation
- Every class had differetne people (from english to bio)
- Instead of using friends as motivation to go to classes instead your in your living room isolated
- in-person you have people with you and questions are so much easier face to face
- on zoom not inviting to ask questions
- EDROLO put their teachers aside
- What was the Edrolo:Teacher ratio in class?
- It ticked off all the syllable points. Teachers nearly became redundant. Felt like they could have learned the whole thing without teachers
- No one got better being online but really driven people still strived werent too affected except for perhaps their mental health
- Teachers did answer emails
